Freespace Robotics Selected to Showcase Groundbreaking AS/RS Design at ProMat 2025

Monday Jan 6th, 2025

PITTSBURGH, PA–January 7, 2024 – Freespace Robotics, an innovator in autonomous robotics solutions and emerging leader redefining efficiency, versatility, and performance, in the warehousing and logistics industry, is thrilled to announce its selection to be featured at the prestigious Startup Pavilion during the upcoming ProMat Conference in Chicago. Taking place on March 17-20, 2025, ProMat is one of the world’s premier events for the logistics, manufacturing, and supply chain industries.

Transforming The Supply Chain

As part of the Startup Pavilion, Freespace Robotics will reveal its revolutionary high-density, dynamic storage cube, which is poised to transform logistics and warehousing operations.

This advanced system leverages autonomous robotics to deliver a high-turn, small footprint hi-rise ASRS technology (high density dynamic storage) that can incorporate normally external conveyor functions such as sortation, sequencing, pre-staging, each picking and order buffering for a wide range of industries, products and materials all under the control of a robust WES that ties inbound and outbound material flows together seamlessly.

Visitors to ProMat will have the opportunity to meet its founders, pioneers in industrial scale automation and robotics, and learn how we designed from the ground-up to exceed speed and density expectations without compromising one for the other. And to do so with expanded versatility, broader applications, and a lower Total Cost of Ownership for all categories. The system’s "Carrier" robots drive its unparalleled performance and unmatched efficiency, clearing the deepest tray in a 20-tray deep lane in forty seconds and performing simultaneous put-away and retrieval tasks in one trip with ease.

Flexibility That Meets Diverse Operational Needs and Adapts to Every Facility

Freespace Robotics’ innovative modular rack design, which expands vertically and horizontally like Lego blocks, makes it adaptable to greenfield and brownfield sites alike. The system’s ability to operate on uneven floors, navigate unconventional facility layouts, and operate with ceiling height variations ensures adaptability to the demands of diverse facilities. Additionally, its electro-mechanical components are positioned outside the racking structure for easy maintenance, while its reliance on domestically sourced parts enhances reliability and resilience.

Revolutionizing Industry Applications

At ProMat, Freespace Robotics will host a seminar in the Startup Theater to highlight the design, capability and versatility of its solutions, which serve a wide range of applications, including:

  • Shipping Buffers: Transforming dock operations with efficient order buffering, sorting, and sequencing within the cube for ‘right-time’ delivery to dock.
  • Cross Docking Operations: Reducing labor needs and operational footprints for time-sensitive processes.
  • Goods-to-Person (GTP) Systems: Delivering high-speed, accurate order fulfillment.
  • Integrated WES Option: Manages the broad range of popular WMS offerings as well as Legacy WMS systems
  • Last-Mile Delivery Optimization: Performance breakthroughs for challenging multi-stop delivery operations where weather, traffic and congestion can impact route orders and performance. Meaningful reductions in shift time, delivery costs and material handling.

Attendees will learn how Freespace Robotics enables businesses to handle standard and large trays, full cases, and individual “each” picks, with trays capable of supporting loads up to 100 pounds. Stackable trays can be stored in the cube, reducing floor space and allow immediate replenishment access.

Innovating for Long-Term Value and Long-Term Performance

Freespace Robotics’ solutions prioritize sustainability and cost efficiency, with features that drive a lower Total Cost of Ownership relative to other solutions, such as:

  • Reliable power rail systems eliminates reliance on difficult to source and costly to recycle batteries, lowering costs, system down time, fire risks, and insurance premiums
  • Lifts available up to 70’, enable high-rise and high-bay designs.
  • Modular structure that meets future business requirements, unknown demands, changing product characteristics and capacity expansion without demolition, reconstruction, major retrofitting or new builds.
  • Maintenance-friendly components located outside the cube for easy access and reduced maintenance costs.

A Proud Milestone for Freespace Robotics

“Being selected to exhibit at the ProMat Startup Pavilion is an incredible honor and a testament to the impact of our solutions,” said Robert J. Szczerba, CEO of Freespace Robotics. “ProMat provides the ideal platform for us to showcase how our innovative technology is helping businesses optimize their logistics and warehousing operations while remaining agile in an ever-changing market. Freespace Robotics is ready to partner with businesses seeking to modernize their logistics operations and unlock new levels of efficiency, productivity and resilience.”
